Dave Sandals Samuel, Founder and Director of the World’s biggest beach & watersport charity festival Paddle Round the Pier, approached Powerhire in early 2015 in the hope they would be interested in becoming part of the Paddle team and sponsor the two day event in July by providing the complete rental power package required for the event to go ahead.
The entire Paddle event is run, promoted and maintained by a crew of unpaid volunteers and could not go ahead without the generous support of sponsors. Having previously attended Paddle, having felt the vibe of the event and experienced it’s generosity Powerhire were delighted to get involved as sponsors for such a worthy cause by providing the rental power. This fantastic free event has, in previous years, raised over £200,000 for charity and simply could not go ahead without the provision of a temporary rental power source, or indeed all the volunteers.
Powerhire will donate, deliver and set up synched generators, electrical distribution boards and cabling to provide temporary rental power to several live music stages, the Paddle Village, The World Food Court, stall holders selling their wares and the PA system for all the announcements required for the jam packed schedule of events going on in and out of the water!
Paddle is an unbelievable free two day event for all the family, there seriously is something for everyone. It has rapidly grown over the years with a footfall of over 55,000 visitors. It has gained international recognition as one of the hippest fund-raising events there is and has become Europe’s biggest beach and watersport festival with entrants coming from as far afield as Belgium, France, Brazil and Hawaii! Last year’s Paddle was voted ‘Best Event in the City of Brighton’.
Some of the main features for 2015 include, Skate & BMX ramps, the Main Music Stage, Ukulele Stage, Kids Stage, Steel Band Stage, Bars, Slalom skate, Grandstand, Lecture Theatre, Surf Life Saving Competitions, Strongman & Beach Fit Challenge. And the title event ‘Paddle’ will be entered by Powerhire building a super technical sea faring craft!
A fabulous weekend of truly remarkable people giving up their free time to help and participate so being a part of the paddle team was incredibly rewarding and to receive such praise was a real bonus!
