Following a recommendation, the Production Manager at a Kent Pleasure Park contacted Powerhire to assess their availability for the provision of generator hire and associated equipment.  Located just down the road from this historic seaside amusement park, Powerhire were only too happy to support this local iconic project and assist in its readiness for the grand opening.

Described as the heartbeat of Margate, this Pleasure Park was one of the UK’s best-loved amusement parks and at one time listed within the UK’s top ten visitor attractions.

In 2003 the Pleasure Park’s 16 acre site was earmarked to close to build housing on, which was when the ‘Save this Pleasure Park’ campaign ignited and a Trust emerged and was successful, with partners, in securing £18m public funding to restore it and its jewels: the Grade II*-listed Scenic Railway, Grade II*-listed cinema complex and Grade II-listed menagerie cages.

This UK original Pleasure Park is being re-imagined, ready to welcome a new generation of fun-seeking visitors. There’ll be more than just brilliant retro rides and amusements. This will be a world where vintage cool holds hands with modern design, and goes for a lovely beachside stroll.

Everywhere you look, there will be a wonderful sense of seaside magic bringing rides, classic sideshows and traditional fairground games lovingly back to life. Not to mention film screenings, concerts and amazing installations too.

In a bold move, Thanet District Council compulsorily-purchased the site in September 2013 and work began in 2014 to restore the iconic Scenic Railway. At this stage of the regeneration the site had limited mains power and a temporary generator was required for the commissioning of Park’s massive sound system.

The Production Manager liaised with our Technical Sales Manager to discuss exactly what power was required and recommended the generator hire of 2 x 60kVA together with the necessary cabling and distribution panel. The project was a simple one and the temporary kit was delivered as required for the few days whilst sound propagation and audio testing throughout the site was carried out on the sound system.

Client Comments: “All VERY much to our satisfaction, top service, good kit, good crew many thanks. I’ll be using you from now on for projects at Dreamland and elsewhere. Good to connect with you!”
