Client: Global Financial Newspaper
Location: Southwark, London
Load Bank Model: 1100kw Resistive Load Bank
Load Bank Testing: 2 x Permanent Generators
Project Overview:
Over a period of one day two of our Engineers carried out load bank tests on the site’s 1250kVA and 520kVA standby generator sets required to provide the buildings power in the event of mains power failure. Load bank testing is essential to prove that the client’s generators will start up and run to provide the necessary power should this happen.
Our Engineers arrived on site with our 1100kw resistive load bank together with the necessary cabling for connection to the building’s generators. Throughout the day they did multiple tests to prove the generator system was capable of supporting the buildings weekday power load in a non-risk, controlled fashion.
The load bank testing demonstrated its importance because it highlighted that the larger of the two generators was not fit for purpose. The 1250kVA completely failed the testing and the generator was rendered inadequate by our Engineers who contacted our Rental Coordinator to provide the client with an emergency solution to support the building’s power requirements. We had a 1250kVA rental generator on site and connected within 6 hours.
