7 Hybrid Lighting Towers for Historic Seaside Amusement Park

Prior to the re-opening of the “old Skool” Pleasure Park on the Kent Coast, the Head of Operations & Facilities contacted Powerhire to ascertain the availability of their Hybrid Lighting Towers to provide a long term lighting solution for the new and improved site.

Hybrid Lighting Towers Hire - Dreamland Margate (The site was first used for amusement rides in 1880, although it only got its name in 1920 when the park’s Grade II* listed Scenic Railway wooden roller coaster was opened.  Described as the heartbeat of Margate, this was once one of the UK’s best-loved amusement parks and at one time listed within the UK’s top ten visitor attractions.

The £15 million overhaul of this famous Pleasure Park in Margate commenced in 2016 with the unveiling planned for the end of May 2017.  The seaside attraction enters a “new and rejuvenated” era featuring;  vintage rides, landscaped gardens, live music, art installations, Wi-Fi across the park, a treetop bar, a 15 metre festival-style bar and street food dining.

The Scenic Railway wooden roller-coaster and the Waltzer have been restored to create an “authentic seaside experience”, as well as introducing new rides including the Brooklands Speedway, Wedgwood Tea Cups and The Crazy Mouse.

Hybrid Lighting Towers Powerhire were once again extremely pleased to be involved in supporting this remarkable local project steeped in history with the supply of our hybrid lighting towers.

Following the servicing of the 7 allocated hybrid lighting towers our engineers loaded them onto two trailers ready for despatch by our logistics team the next morning,  a couple of days before the grand opening.

The following day the Powerhire team arrived onsite to the beautifully re-landscaped park.  They knew the site well, having provided generator power for its original re-vamp in 2015, and knew exactly where to meet the client onsite to ascertain the required locations for positioning the hybrid lighting towers.

Hybrid Lighting TowersAt each location they offloaded the compact tower units using their central lifting facility and positioned each one securely using their adjustable stabilisers and lockable parking break.

Because our hybrid lighting towers have a range of alternative options for lighting position and brightness, auto or manual functions, mast height extendibility, and many more,  before leaving site our engineers made sure that they fully demonstrated the varying elements for the client.

The interim CEO commented “Our plan is to operate a fantastic vintage park that showcases the Scenic Railway and our many other rides alongside destination dining and unique event spaces. We intend to give the local community something they can be proud of and have a great time visiting, while providing people from outside the area an even greater reason to come to Margate.”
