The Kent County Show is a well-known showcase event in the County for farming, countryside and rural life. It’s a fun filled & exciting event for the whole family, showcasing what ‘The Garden of England’ has to offer.
Apart from a couple of hick-ups in the form of a general industrial strike & an outbreak of foot & mouth disease, The Kent County Show has been running since 1923! This year’s show was held over the usual three day period from Friday 10th until Sunday 12th July.
The long days from 8am to 6pm contained plenty of activity, entertainment and local food and this year accommodated 400 exhibitors & trade stands and presented over 300 competitions & displays, including a variety of livestock & modern machinery as well as the mighty RAF Red Arrows.
To add to this year’s excitement the team from BBC Countryfile arrived on the Friday to film their Summer Special due to be televised on Sunday 26th July. Visitors to the show were able to take a look behind the scenes to find out how the programme is aired, 52 weeks a year, whatever the weather! And at the BBC Experience stand, reading the news; commentating a sports match or having a go at broadcasting the weather was accessible for all comers.
Having provided backup generator power for several years, it was once again an honour to be invited back by the Events Manager of the Kent County Agricultural Society following a re-quotation of the previous year’s specification for the provision of generator power.
On Wednesday 8th July the Powerhire Logistics Team delivered a 1000 kVA prime rated generator together with a 3000ltr fuel tank and the necessary power cabling as part of the sites contingency planning programme for events. In the unlikely event of a mains power failure the generator would have been called into action to provide the necessary power to keep the site up and running without any disruption to the Show’s facilities and schedules.
A sun covered Kent County Show 2015 was a huge success playing host to just over 77,000 visitors
