In late September one of the World’s largest commercial real estate companies contacted our Technical Sales Manager at Powerhire, having worked together previously, for advice on a temporary backup generator power solution for one of its commercial properties.
The commercial property had recently been occupied by a prestigious Company’s research and development department who required the premises for carrying out deep freeze sampling among other critical research projects. And therefore due to the nature of their business activities they simply couldn’t afford to be without power as a result of a mains power failure.
Powerhire’s Technical Sales Manager met the buildings Facilities Manager onsite to assess the tenant’s back-up generator power requirement and provide the best solution possible for the coming year.
Prior to the scheduled installation of the back-up generator power all the relevant risk assessment management and documentation was undertaken by Powerhire and a programme of implementation agreed with the client. In early November the Powerhire Installation team delivered the 500kVA back-up generator power to site, together with the necessary rental cabling for connection and fuel tank. Powerhire Engineers liaised with the Facilities Manager who connected the back-up generator to a temporary Auto Mains Failure [AMF] panel before we commissioned the entire system.
At a scheduled time, as agreed with the Facilities Manager, the buildings mains power was shut down and the AMF panel successfully switched to utilise the back-up generator for continuity of power for the tenant’s deep freeze units being used in their research and development department.
