Client: Property Management Company
Location: City of London
LoadBank Model: 2 x 1100kw Resistive LoadBank
LoadBank Tests: 5 x Permanent Generators
Project Overview:
We were contacted by a regular client to undertake loadbank testing for their backup generator system to validate its integrity in the event of mains power outage. It is imperative for global businesses to stay operational in any eventuality and therefore regular loadbank testing on their system is hugely important.
With a solid knowledge of the sites operational power and backup generator system we specified 2 x 1100kw resistive loadbanks for our engineers to carry out the necessary tests.
We arrived onsite with the loadbanks and sufficient cabling to connect up the loadbanks to test each generator in turn. Over a period of 2 days our engineers carried out a 2 hour heat run on each generator to prove it could operate under full power. With the site’s history of ventilation problems leading to the generators overheating the generators were monitored very closely. The loadbanks are approximately 200mtrs away from the furthest generator so the engineer’s remote control units they used were invaluable.
The engines on 2 of the generators failed, demonstrating the importance of loadbank testing! Within 12 hours we had connected 2 x 1250kVA rental generators into the site’s existing system to provide an emergency solution until the repairs on the 2 failed generator engines could be carried out.
