When one of the most successful house builders in the UK approached Powerhire for the provision of temporary generator power we jumped at the chance to be involved in supporting a large scale local housing development. In just 70 years this company has grown from a small, family-owned firm to directly employing just over 2,000 people and have earned an enviable reputation of quality, service and trust. Therefore when they required the temporary generator power to support the long term housing construction at Thames Gateway’s latest development site with a five start developer we naturally agreed.
At the beginning of March 2015 the developer commenced construction works with the demolition of storage facilities to make way for two new, 19 storey buildings. The housing development; a collection of one, two, three and four bedroom homes, planned over several phases and due for completion in 2017, will deliver over 500 much needed new homes in the capital.
The overall development scheme will also include 2,475m² of commercial space, with the aim of bringing new retail and lifestyle opportunities to the area.
The scheme is a modern and sustainable interpretation taking into consideration the broad history of the area. The regeneration includes a variety of measures to help energy efficiency, including improved insulation, large windows for solar gain as well as support for community recycling. It is therefore exciting to be a part of local regeneration.
Each stage of the generator power support was scheduled in for the requested time scales for the provision of power to the site itself as well as tower cranes and hoisting for the ground work and construction of the properties. Powerhire’s team of engineers and drivers delivered the first 500kVA generator to site in April 2015, followed by an additional 200kVA generator in August and the final 300kVA having been delivered in the first week of October. And, as standard, our service engineers will also visit site every 8 to 10 weeks to service the generators, ensuring their efficiency throughout the hire period.
