Generator Power and Lighting for annual Music Festival on the banks of the River Medway
Early in May we were approached for the provision of festival power and lighting by the M&E Manager representing the sponsors for a 2 day Kent based music festival in July.
The Vicars Picnic in Yalding is an annual music event with a mix of new breaking artists alongside established bands, bringing a family friendly environment to the banks of the river Medway. The organisers are hugely proud of bringing the best music festival to Kent organised by the people of Kent ….and Powered by a Kent based rental company. Keep it Kent!
Having outgrown its original site the festival moved to this new, larger location in the picturesque village of Yalding. It offers 2 nights of onsite camping and glamping for the entire family, ideal for relaxing into each night after a full 2 days of merriment from great music, excellent food, exquisite bars, ‘out-of-this-world’ workshops and an abundance of entertainment.
The M&E Manager knew the extent of this year’s festival power and lighting but was keen to meet our Events Technical Manager and the event organisers on site to drill down on the specifics, logistics, distribution and location of the required rental power package. He not only wanted us to cater for the event’s festival power and lighting, but he was also keen for us to provide power distribution, electrical services and fuel management for the entire duration of the event.
Following a very productive meeting on site we were well armed with all the essential information to power manage the event. The necessary drawings, health & safety documents and risk assessments were put together and the festival power package was scheduled into the digital rental calendar for the allocation of the required equipment, engineers and logistics team.
As always, several days prior to the event all equipment was serviced before loading onto our transport. Our team of engineers delivered the power package to site as scheduled and off loaded the festival power, lighting, distribution boards and fuel tanks in the designated areas as per our previously agreed site map locator.
As the equipment was being rolled out and dropped at the relevant locations, in a methodical manor our engineers made a start on making the necessary connections, in liaison with the client, to complete the power package set up. Once the final connections were made, together with the client, we fully commissioned the system set up to ensure its integrity as well as ensuring any cabling was fully covered over and secured with cable ramps. All the generator day tanks, fuel tanks and lighting towers were fully fuelled for continuous running throughout the duration of the event.
Before leaving site both the client and ourselves were completely satisfied with the system set up and it’s proficiency to provide the required power for all the stages, events and games area, the concessions, camping and glamping areas and lighting and catering areas.
For another year running this event proved a huge success and both client and sponsors were extremely pleased with our power rental equipment. Satisfaction all round!
